We all understand this, but the numbers are pretty striking. More Ford, Chevy & Ram pickups were sold than all Camrys, Corollas, Accords, CR-Vs and Civics combined. Enjoy that sweet, sweet, cheap gasoline while you can, ‘Murica.

Why can’t American midsize sell as well as the Japs? I guess their reputation just isn’t there.

Midsize sedans or pickups?

Fusion comes in at #12, not too far off the pace. Cruze at #17. Malibu’s all the way down at #25.

Crazy that the Wrangler outsell the Focus line!

Yup. F-150 nearly outsells Camry and Corolla combined!

Davesaddiction helped more than i can with more numbers, but it’s nice to see the fusion is only 30-60k units away from the altima, civic, accord and corolla.

That god damn camry though...

You mean forever? Pretty sure we get it so cheap because we’re ‘Murica. :)

Ha - cheap is relative, I guess. It was $4 a gallon not too long ago... but the current oversupply/underdemand situation sets up a low commodity price situation for the near term, for sure.

I don’t think only the 15o is in that group. That’s all the “F” in Ford’s lineup. As many Camrys and F-150 I see it could be a 1-1 ratio.

Many of these are for fleet and business sales. I don’t see many construction companies driving around in Camrys.

Yes, sorry: F-150, -250, -350, -450, -550, -650, etc.

I’d still guess that the F-150 is 2/3rds to 3/4trs of the total, though.

Yeah, but settling near $3 isn’t outrageous and fairly in line with the rate of inflation and our historical average.

Yeah, but I can get it for $1.50 right now here in OK! To be honest, as much as it’s nice to pay less at the pump, I think low gas prices are really a bad thing, all things considered. Higher fuel prices have driven much innovation over the past several years (electric cars and battery tech, CNG buses, trucks, etc.), and with the price swing, the innovative companies doing this work will likely struggle and some will fail. Also, when gas prices are low, people buy much more car than they really need and don’t consider efficiency nearly as much.

I’m not a fan of higher taxes, but I am a fan of solid, well-maintained infrastructure. It seems like there’s a good opportunity right now to raise the federal gas tax to pay for road & bridge projects, and I’d actually be for that (assuming the proceeds could be used for nothing but new infrastructure or doing needed repairs).

I cannot understand the appeal of a stupid Camry

A lot of people treat cars like dishwashers or fridges. They just want it to start and don’t care how it works.

It is what it is on that front, I mean, they do work. I don’t like them either.

Also the Malibu saw sales gains if you notice and I wouldn’t say it’s a bad thing giving it’s right next to the Focus and the Wrangler and only 30k units behind the GMC Sierra.

People who don’t care about cars, buy on reputation. They want something they don’t have to think or care about. That’s why they buy so many Camries. That reputation is why the domestics have such a hard time penetrating the market. Ford has done a pretty good job getting close at least.

I have zero trucks in my fleet and nothing under 8 cylinders. Clearly not contributing to these numbers.
